"Japanese American Tacoma artist June Sekiguchi takes contemporary cut paper and wood elements to respond to her ancestral heritage by repurposing original, monumental scale Sumi paintings by an unknown artist. She preserves the integrity of the painted line and cuts patterns into specific areas of the paintings. Sekiguchi feels the mystery of the paintings reflects her displacement from Japan and the mysteries of her relationship to her ancestry." (Promo Copy)

Viewable from the sidewalk (or inside by appointment).
