The Hotel Sorrento lays claim to the peculiar honor of having been deemed one of the 13 most haunted hotels in the world by USA Today. Why? It’s said that the specter of late eccentric socialite Alice B. Toklas lurks there; she’s known mostly as the muse and lover of Gertrude Stein (not to mention the progenitor of an apparently killer pot brownie recipe). Toklas lived briefly in Seattle as a teen, and her apparition has been glimpsed roaming the halls of the Sorrento’s fourth floor dressed in flowing white. At this spooky event, the hotel will pay homage to its favorite “permanent resident” with a tour of some of the sites of reported paranormal activity, followed by a prix-fixe dinner inspired by Toklas’s eponymous cookbook. (Alas, her famous brownies will not be served.)

Soup of shallots and cheese - Creamy roasted vegetable broth with crispy baguette and melted parmesan cheese

Salad Concalaise - Bib lettuce with a potato, truffle, and oyster salad
Third Course (choice of one entrée)
Hen a la provincial - Half a young chicken braised with vegetables in a thin broth
Pink pompadour bass - Seared white sea bass with watercress and beetroot mashed potatoes
Carrot Risotto (vegetarian and vegan options) - Carnaroli rice, parmesan, lemon zest, carrot pesto

Raspberry Flummery - Raspberry preserves and whipped cream with hibiscus sugar


PHASE TWO SOCIAL DISTANCING & DINING RESTRICTIONS
Hotel Sorrento is committed to upholding all ordinances part of the Washington Safe Start Plan. Our Health and Safety Commitment requires temperature checks from all guests and associates arriving on property, and face coverings are required.
At the time of this event, we expect to remain in Phase Two, which requires the following:
- Guests are REQUIRED to wear a face covering anytime they are not seated at the table and eating.
- Hand sanitizer is available to all guests and associates.
- All parties and tables must have 5 guests or less.
- Indoor dining at the same table is limited to members of the same household.
- Standing is prohibited in any area of the establishment, except for the lobby or waiting area and then must be done while maintaining 6 feet of distance between patrons.
- Tables must be far enough apart so that guests are a minimum of 6 feet away from others while seated. A physical barrier or wall separating booths or tables is acceptable.
