Mount Rainier National Park ecologist Dr. Tara Chestnut and Michael Hansen, the leaders of the Mount Rainier bat crew, are working to understand where bats at Mount Rainier go to hibernate so they can know just how vulnerable they are to white-nose syndrome, a fungal disease recently detected in bats in Washington State. (Don't worry, it doesn't affect humans.) In this virtual field trip, Tara and Michael will discuss and demonstrate how they monitor bats and conduct WNS surveillance.
