Iranian American novelist Porochista Khakpour, whose Brown Album: Essays On Exile And Identity recalls her family's journey from Iran to "Tehrangeles" (an enclave of wealthy Persians in Los Angeles) during the Iranian Revolution, will open Hugo House's Word Works season with a talk on how she uses personal essays to explore the self. After that, she'll be joined by writing instructor Anne Liu Kellor for a brief interview.
