From Pride events to the return of live music and performances, we’ve rounded up some of the best in-person happenings to hit up as Portlanders gradually emerge from lockdown and re-learn how to be social beings. 

Rose Festival Art Show Past Event Like List
Most of the Rose Festival’s events are virtual this year, but the Oregon Society of Artists is opening their downtown gallery to art appreciators for the Annual Rose Festival Art Show. This year’s juried categories are “Hope Reigns” (the Rose Festival theme), and “Rose Festival/Portland scenes.” The show’s opening reception on June 3 will include the presentation of a commissioned portrait of the 2020 Rose Festival Queen.

Oregon Ballet Theatre LIVE Past Event Like List
The theatre’s season OBT MOVES is being reimagined for an outdoor performance in partnership with Portland Opera and OMSI. Part performance, part celebration, part reunion, OBT LIVE will premiere two new programs thematically inspired by the joy of reconnection.

Live at the Lot: Blossom Past Event Like List
Blossom brings her soulful brand of R&B and jazz to the South Waterfront’s socially distanced outdoor venue. The eclectic singer is musically influenced by her upbringing in Trinidad and Tobago, having played steel drums in a band with her family members.

Comedy Spectacular hosted by Rose City Rollers & Portland Mercury! Past Event Like List
Level up your summer picnic at this live comedy event with Amanda Arnold, Grant Lyon, Tyler Boeh, Chris Johnson, and Derrick Brown, hosted by The Portland Mercury and Rose City Rollers. Beer and food will be onsite.

Oregon Midsummer Festival Past Event Like List
Presented by Nordic Northwest, this year’s festival will have two time slots in order to ensure safety. Revelers during the morning and afternoon sessions can partake in traditional Scandinavian events, such as kubb (also known as “Viking Chess”), flower crown making, and of course, the raising of and dancing around the Maypole.

Spectrum Art Market Past Event Like List
This LGBTQA+ pop-up market in the heart of the Mississippi neighborhood will feature artists, designers, and makers from around the Portland-metro area. The market will make its debut during Pride month and recur monthly through October.

PRIDE PICS Past Event Like List
Pride Northwest is joining forces with the directors of the QDoc film festival to host this outdoor film showcase as part of Pride month festivities. Six feature-length films and several shorts will all be making their Oregon debut in a celebration of diverse queer stories. Local food and beverages will be available, with DJs rounding out the entertainment.

Open Air Concert Series with YAWA  Past Event Like List
The artist formerly known as Amenta Abioto will entertain concert goers with her “rEVOLutionary soul synthy healing sounds” under The Old Church’s historic porte cochere. In her one-woman act, she builds vocal and instrumental loops with a variety of instruments, creating a lush textural audio experience. Libations and charcuterie boxes by Empress Fine Grazing will be available for purchase.

Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts Past Event Like List
This year’s festival will feature one main exhibition, Art in the Park, and a two-day outdoor sale in a COVID-safe environment. The exhibit will showcase over 100 Pacific Northwest artists in categories such as 3D mixed media, printmaking, ceramics, fiber art, glass, sculpture, woodworking, and more.

Pedalpalooza Past Event Like List
The festival of bike fun returns in a three-month-long run of different events organized by cyclists like you. Most rides are free and all are open to the public, with masks being required for ride leaders and participants.
