Starting mid-September and running into October, Hispanic Heritage Month or Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana, honors the cultures and contributions of Hispanic (pertaining to people who hail from or have ancestry in Spanish speaking countries) and Latinx (people of Latin American descent) Americans to the United States. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Oregon-based Hispanic winemakers and winery owners will tell their stories, proudly display the diversity of Hispanic cultures (which span most of Latin America and Spain), and give back to Oregon's Spanish-speaking community. Participating wineries Alumbra Cellars, Atticus Wine, Beacon Hill Winery & Vineyard, Cramoisi Vineyard, Parra Wine Co, and Valcan Cellars will offer special wine selections with accompanying bites and donate ten percent of ticket and bottle sales to Adelante Mujeres Empresas, a development program that provides instruction for small business owners and supports individuals in pursuit of their dreams.

Portland Mercado's “El Carnaval del Barrio,” or neighborhood carnival, will feature a night of music and dance performances, food, vendors, and community. Ten percent of the night's sales will benefit the Latino Student Union at David Douglas High School, which has one of the state's most diverse student bodies.

Coinciding with Hispanic Heritage Month, this fiesta commemorates the independence of Mexico and other Latin American countries from Spain. The most important holiday observed by Oregon's Hispanic community, the occasion will be celebrated with folkloric and Aztec dancers, live mariachi, salsa, cumbia and pop music, as well as traditional food and beverages, and community booths with interactive and educational materials.

Co-presented by Centro Cultural and the City of Hillsboro, this festive celebration will feature a traditional El Grito de la Independencia (the cry of independence by Father Miguel Hidalgo) ceremony. Stick around for live music, kids' activities, food and other vendors, interactive community booths, and a COVID-19 vaccine clinic courtesy of Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center.

Cramoisi Vineyard owners Sofía Torres-McKay and Ryan McKay will celebrate Mexican independence during this intimate dinner pairing Cramoisi wines with gourmet Mexican food. Diners will learn about Mexican culture and traditions over steaming bowls of pozole, stuffed pumpkin flowers, chiles en nogada, and sweet tamalitos. If you can't make it to this special event, the vineyard regularly offers their wine tasting experience in English and Spanish.

The Portland Latin Film Festival presents Y tu mamá también, director Alfonso Cuarón's breakthrough film, about two teenage boys (played by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal) coming of age on a road trip through Mexico.
