"I'm fascinated by the idea of communicating with the spirits of the dead, the relationship of matter and spirit, and a form of séance to demonstrate the mediumship," writes artist Aki Onda on her first major U.S. solo exhibition, A Letter From Souls of the Dead. Centering collections of found objects such as bells, surplus electronics, photographs, and vintage slide projections, the show is set to a soundtrack curated by the artist alongside New Yorked-based vocalist Charmaine Lee and New Haven-based musician Zach Rowden.

Reminiscent of international night markets, the Beaverton Night Market offers a diverse set of vendors selling ethnic foods and crafts. This year, the event has teamed up with arts nonprofit 2D4D to present La Strada dei Pastelli, a chalk art festival highlighting the 500-year old tradition of Italian street painting. 2D4D board chair Raziah Roushan writes: “In just a few hours attendees watch drawings evolve from plain asphalt to fully-rendered, multi-colored masterpieces.”
