The Bite of Oregon
The Bite is Oregon's biggest celebration of all things delicious, transforming the waterfront into a massive celebration of food, drink, and song, as well as a proving ground for the state's best chefs and mixologists. Regardless which chef takes home what title, the real winner is your mouth.

Oregon Fermentation Festival
The magic of letting things get old and taste different (and/or mind-altering) is celebrated with a day-long festival on Sauvie Island, with a maker's marketplace, a DIY pickling station, workshops, presentations, an ambrosia garden (like a beer garden, but with cider, mead, and wine in there, too) and plenty of fermented foods.

The Bloody Mary Fest
The Bloody Mary Liberation Party invites you to come out to the North Warehouse and sample an array of delicious takes on the best brunch cocktail around, with live music providing a suitable soundtrack for all the tangy tastings, and food carts offering up nibbles to pair with the drinks.

Sumo Stew PDX
A celebration of sumo—not just the sport, but the fuel its competitors consume to earn victory. Live streams of grand tournaments play while attendees enjoy sausage chankonabe from Olympia Provisions, and a bento box filled with contributions from Afuri Ramen, Kayo's Ramen, Biwa, Asahi, and more.

OKTOBERFEST!
The Abbey Oktoberfest
Lots of places are bringing a little bit of Germany to the Pacific Northwest, but the Abbey is one of the few that isn't just dedicating a day or two to drinking, dancing, and sausage-y silliness, they're going full Oktoberfest, running a variety of events (all family-friendly, too!) at their NW 23rd location from Sept 15-17. Proceeds benefit Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

Prost! Portland Oktoberfest

Stammtisch Oktoberfest
It's the time of year where glass boots and lederhosen start springing up out of the ground and taking over city blocks like some sort of sausage-y invasive species. Stammtisch's annual celebration of this season includes a barbecue, games, live German music, giant pretzels, and a whole bunch of Oktoberfest biers to enjoy all weekend long, with special ceremonial tappings throughout the weekend.

Widmer Brothers Oktoberfest
SONOFABITCH! For 12 straight years the Widmers have taken over Pioneer Courthouse Square with their Oktoberfest extravaganza, and 2017 will be lucky number 13, transforming the city's living room into a celebration not just of the season, but of beer itself, with their regular roster of delicious beers as well as a bunch of special small-batch beers only available at the fest. And providing you some fine drinking music: Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats!

Coffee Loves Beer
A party for the harmonious matrimony of caffeine and alcohol in their two best forms: Coffee and beer. Stumptown Cold Brew is used in brews from Cascade, Base Camp, Commons, Boneyard, Rogue, Breakside, Ninkasi, Elysian, Gigantic, and Crux, and admission gets you access to all of those special brews plus a commemorative glass and some live music to enjoy while you drink.

Portland Fresh Hops Fest
Beer is a staple in Portland. Hoppy beer is also a staple in Portland. Fresh-hopped beer is an ephemeral thing, arriving only during hops harvest season, with its piney, citrusy taste and delicate fizz. Beer festivals abound in Oregon, but the Portland Fresh Hops Beer Fest is the only fresh hoppy one at Oaks Park, where you can get drunk and go on amusement park rides. Wheeeeee! SHELBY R. KING

Beer Dinner Saturday
Imperial Chefs Vitaly Paley and Matthew Jarrell hook up with Culmination's head brewer Conrad Andrus for a five-course dinner that brings out the best in both, with unique brews being paired with locally-sourced delicacies.
