OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS
The cause of the three-alarm fire which damaged the Roseway Theater on August 6 has been ruled as an accidental electrical issue by Portland Fire & Rescue. The owner of the historic movie house is considering rebuilding but has not made a firm decision on its future.
Lose Yr Mind Fest Past Event Like List will debut two new showcases at the festival this year—The Thesis hip-hop showcase will feature Portland rappers Bird Bennett and Lord Lawrence, while a showcase from local indie label Mama Bird Recording Co. will highlight folk and blues artists.
Deemed “the best contemporary summer festival in the country” by The New York Times, PICA’s Time-Based Art Festival Past Event Like List (TBA) makes its return this year with new Night School programming, modeled after alternative education methods and late-night learning. Artist-educators Pepper Pepper, Zach Blas, Nana Adusei-Poku, and Kite will create space for critical conversations that blur the lines between experimental art and academic knowledge.
