60's Cafe and Diner Add to a List
This retro diner with a location in Lincoln City opened an outpost in Tualatin earlier this month, serving up onion rings, mozzarella sticks, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, milkshakes, ice cream sundaes, and more.

Hinterland Bar and Food Carts Add to a List
There's an exciting new dining destination in town: This highly anticipated food cart pod and cocktail bar is set to open this Saturday. The spot will host local favorites Burger Stevens and Matt's BBQ Tacos Add to a List , plus up-and-comers La Taquiza Vegana Add to a List , Poppyseed Add to a List , and Third Culture Kitchen Add to a List , along with plentiful heated and covered outdoor seating, while the bar will offer wine, rotating beers on tap, nonalcoholic drinks, and special drink pairings to complement each of the carts onsite.

Rotigo Add to a List
This breezy, stylish European market, restaurant, and wine bar opened in Slabtown at the end of December, slinging rotisserie chicken dinners, sandwiches, salads, side dishes, specialty pantry items, wine, vermouth, and vegan and gluten-free items.

Paladin Pie Add to a List
Ready your 20-sided die: Leo Brill, an alum of Scottie's Pizza Add to a List and Nostrana Add to a List and former chef de cuisine at Oven & Shaker, is opening a Dungeons and Dragons-inspired wood-fired pizza cart at the NE 23rd and Alberta pod in March. Expect sourdough-fermented pies in varieties like pepperoni, Hawaiian, and buffalo chicken, with vegan options, house-made ranch, grilled vegetables, and salads. Ice cream will also join the menu later on.


Acadia Add to a List
Portland's treasured Cajun-Creole restaurant closed its doors for good last weekend. Chef Seamus Foran wrote in an Instagram post last Friday, "I’ve never been good at long speeches (or short ones), so I’ll just say…Thanks for 20 years Portland. This weekend will be our final service at Acadia Bistro. It’s been a pleasure cooking for you these past two decades. Thank you to everyone who has ever dined with us, and drank with us, and an especially big, GIGANTIC 'Thank you!' to everyone who’s ever worked here with me. Or for me. Thanks for helping make this place feel like home."

Clyde Common Add to a List
After numerous closures and pivots, the pioneering downtown drinks destination is now permanently closed due to the impact of the pandemic and a decrease in downtown traffic. Owner Nate Tilden wrote, "While we are very sad to see Clyde disappear for good, I am extremely proud of the work we did at Clyde Common over 14 wonderful years. Proud that our customers loved us from the day we opened in 2007. Proud to be a stalwart hub of Portland in what we offered in food, drink, hospitality, and vibrancy. We also won some nice awards, and that's great, but what I cherish the most are the amazing staff members who walked through the doors each and every day."


Reo Varnado of Reo's Ribs has died
Reo Varnado, the founder of the Hollywood District barbecue restaurant Reo's Ribs Add to a List , died last Friday, January 14. Varnado was also known as the rap legend Snoop Dogg's uncle and once appeared on his popular show Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party. Snoop Dogg shared a photo with his uncle on Instagram, writing, "U will be missed. Thank u for loving me and the whole world, u were a blessing."

Bartender Jeffrey Morgenthaler launches canned cocktail line
Star bartender Jeffrey Morgenthaler, known for overseeing the bar programs at Clyde Common Add to a List and Pepe Le Moko Add to a List , is bringing his creations to your home: He's teamed up with Ninkasi Add to a List to release his own line of canned cocktails. Initial offerings include his signature "Bourbon Renewal" cocktail (bourbon with crème de cassis and lemon), a gin rickey with mint, and a jalapeño-infused mezcal paloma.

Chef Cody Auger joins Takibi

Chef Cody Auger of Nimblefish Add to a List has taken over the modern izakaya restaurant Takibi Add to a List , located in the Snow Peak Add to a List outdoor goods retail store on NW 23rd, from Submarine Hospitality. Auger will now focus his efforts on Takibi and is handing the reins at Nimblefish over to sushi chef Yasu Tabita.

Food hall coming to downtown Hillsboro
Three big names in Portland's food scene—Sizzle Pie, Ex Novo Brewing, and The Sudra—are teaming up to open a food hall in downtown Hillsboro in the former U.S. Bank building by spring 2023.

PitchBlack event announces lineup for 2022
The business competition PitchBlack, which was launched by economist and entrepreneur Stephen Green in Portland in 2015 and allows Black and/or Latinx entrepreneurs a chance to pitch their ideas, network, and win cash prizes, is coming back for 2022. A date has not yet been announced, but the website shows the lineup for this year, with local food businesses like Drink Mamey Add to a List , Waves Caribbean, and Plant Bomb among the participants.

True to vegan comfort food form, chef Jewan Manuel's pop-up-turned-restaurant, currently residing inside the reopened Fortune Add to a List inside the Sentinel Hotel Add to a List , has created a new eggplant parmesan burger special, featuring a buttered bun, garlic aioli, beefsteak tomato slices, arugula, Italian panko breadcrumb-battered eggplant patties, Italian gravy, and cashew parmesan.
