Cintli Cantina Like List

Mendelssohn’s Like List
Portland will soon have its very first classical music-inspired bar, thanks to owner Lisa Lipton, a clarinetist, descendant of the bar's namesake composer Felix Mendelssohn, and the director of the Newport Symphony Orchestra. The watering hole opens on Saturday, July 9, and will feature themed cocktails like the "Bach Talk" (a jalapeño martini with Lillet Rouge), plus a food menu with items from local businesses like Rimsky-Korsakoffee House, Henry Higgins, and Olympia Provisions.

The up-and-coming pop-up, which announced in April Like List that it plans to open a brick-and-mortar location, has revealed more details about its upcoming restaurant and wine bar: It's set to open in the former CHAR Pizza Like List space in September, with locally sourced small plates inspired by France, Spain, and Italy.
Sad news for anyone in Portland with a sweet tooth: The longtime "dessert oasis" Pix Pâtisserie is closing permanently on August 22 due to owner Cheryl Wakerhauser's retirement. Though the closure may come to a surprise as many, Wakerhauser says in an Instagram post that she actually planned the retirement from the "nonstop, unpredictable and yet also rewarding restaurant industry" 10 years ago to the date, when she opened the bakery's East Burnside location. Happily, there's a silver lining: The bakery's now-iconic 24-hour "Pix-O-Matic" vending machines will remain intact and fully stocked with goodies from Wakerhauser's baking crew, and Wakerhauser herself will host cooking classes starting next year. If you'd like to say goodbye, stop by for one of Pix's summer movie nights Past Event Like List or for a drink from the award-winning champagne and sherry menu on the patio (since, as Wakerhauser writes, "I can’t legally sell wine in a vending machine").
Safframen Like List
This plant-based noodle soup cart announced this week that it will close its location at the Carts on Foster pod permanently at the end of the month.
ThiccBoi Like List
The popular fried chicken cart closed on Sunday, July 3. Owner Jacob Palmer wrote in an Instagram post, "As chicken prices have skyrocketed and quality has dropped, it has become increasingly difficult to provide y’all with a consistent product. At a certain point the stress of running the cart exceeded the gratification and money that I was getting out of it. I’ve realized that this is not what I want to do anymore, so we will be closing very soon. I wish we could stay open longer for y’all, but between the extreme heat, the slim profit margins, and both me and my employee having scheduling conflicts soon, it makes the most sense for this week to be our last. My hope is that me and my family will continue to revive ThiccBoi in creative ways moving forward!"
Tails & Trotters Like List
This market known for its hazelnut-finished pork products closed last Saturday, July 2. Owners Aaron and Kelly Silverman cited rising expenses and the impact of COVID-19 as factors contributing to the closure, writing in an Instagram post, "After weathering a devastating fire in 2017 and the past 2 years of COVID, the sudden loss of key infrastructure makes it impossible for us to effectively operate. In conjunction with skyrocketing costs at every level, we have decided to suspend all operations while we figure out our next steps." The business will pay one last visit to the PSU Farmers Market Remind Like List this Saturday if you'd like to stock up.
