This week brings a slew of exciting new dining options, including a new Matt's BBQ location in Beaverton, the new vegan cart Gnarlys, the non-alcoholic cocktail bar pop-up Suckerpunch, brick-and-mortar locations from the pop-ups Mis Tacones and Mikiko Mochi Donuts, and more. Gnarlys Add to a List
This vegan fast-food cart opened in the CORE food cart pod Add to a List in mid-December, but was forced to close for a couple of weeks due to owner and sole cook Chris Hudson contracting a breakthrough case of COVID-19. (The business is currently raising funds to cover the losses from the closure.) It reopened in late January and is now slinging hearty burgers with extras like Thrilling Foods Bakon Strips, vegan provolone, fried onions, and more, plus some loaded "gnarly fries" (a plant-based take on In-N-Out's beloved animal-style fries).

K-Town Korean BBQ Add to a List
Stuff yourself silly with a wide selection of meats (including galbi, beef brisket, pork belly, lemon pepper chicken, tripe, and more), jjigaes, pan-fried fish, and side dishes at this local Korean barbecue chain, which has locations in Vancouver and Portland and recently opened a new Beaverton location. All-you-can-eat and á la carte options are available.

Matt's BBQ Add to a List
Matt Vicedomini's ever-popular Texas-style barbecue cart opened its highly anticipated second location at Breakside Brewery's new Beaverton beer garden on February 18. The pod is also set to host carts from Farmer & the Beast Add to a List , Let's Roll Add to a List , and Afuri, as well as a German sausage and pretzel cart from the team behind Please Louise Add to a List .

Mikiko Mochi Donuts Add to a List
The hit mochi donut pop-up soft-opened its new shop in Northeast Portland this week and is hosting its grand opening this weekend. The menu features four filled varieties (currently horchata pudding, P.O.G., black sesame with marionberry jam, and passionfruit curd) and four unfilled ones (yuzu funfetti, plum wine, ube, and Thai tea).

Mis Tacones Add to a List
The queer Chicanx-owned vegan taqueria pop-up Mis Tacones, known for its tacos, tortas, papas nachos, and Cali burritos, launched a brick-and-mortar in the former Tiffin Asha space on Killingsworth earlier this month.

Pasture Add to a List
The pop-up Pasture, which is focused on whole-animal cooking, opened this ethically sourced butcher shop and restaurant on Alberta on February 12. The business is run by former Farm Spirit Add to a List employees Kei Ohdera and John Schaible and stocks Oregon and Pacific Northwest meat, vegetables, wines, retail goods, and more.

Rockabilly Cafe Add to a List
Owner David Liberman channels his lifelong affinity for 1950s culture (specifically, "hot rods, bomber jackets, and teenage delinquency," as he put it to Eater Portland) into this new retro diner, which opened in the former Chop Add to a List space in St. Johns on Tuesday. Expect greasy-spoon classics like buttermilk pancakes, tuna melts, and meatloaf made with upgraded and locally sourced ingredients, plus milkshakes in combos like the "Chocolate Elvis" (chocolate, peanut butter, and banana) and peanut butter and jelly.

Suckerpunch Add to a List
This experimental zero-proof cocktail pop-up kicked off a residency at the Goat Blocks Add to a List on Thursday, serving a prix-fixe tasting menu of three sophisticated original drinks made with non-alcoholic spirits—"Straight from the Fire" (roasted corn tea, smoked maple syrup, cooked grape must, The Bitter Housewife bull run barrel-aged bitters, fresh sage, and orange peel), "Island Time" (Montinore Estate Verjus, Som turmeric drinking vinegar, Sanbitter, yuzu, lime, galangal, and shiso), and "Thank You For Being a Friend" (Steven Smith Lord Bergamot tea, orgeat, date, Meyer lemon, nutmeg, and aquafaba)—along with snack pairings. Owner Andy McMillan hopes to open a full-fledged bar later this year.

City Bridge & Tunnel Add to a List
This cocktail bar plans to open in the former Shift Drinks Add to a List space by Saint Patrick's Day, serving classic drinks like Negronis and old fashioneds alongside lobster rolls, Philly cheesesteaks, and meatball subs.

The popular burger chain is launching its first Portland location in Lloyd's Station. An opening date has not yet been announced.

The Sports Bra Add to a List
Inspired by a long-standing inside joke between her and her friends, chef Jenny Nguyen hopes to open this women-focused sports bar and restaurant in early April. The establishment will show women's sports on the TVs and will highlight offerings from women-owned businesses on its menu, including booze from Freeland Spirits Add to a List and beef from Carman Ranch.

Hayden's Lakefront Grill Add to a List
After 23 years of business, this family-run Tualatin restaurant is closing permanently on Saturday. The Urban Restaurant Group will open the Brix Tavern spinoff Brix Tavern South in the space in early spring.

James Beard Awards semi-finalists announced
The prestigious James Beard Foundation (named after the late, great Portland-born chef and food writer) announced the semifinalists for its annual awards this week, and many Pacific Northwest chefs and restaurants made the cut, including Berlu Add to a List , Coquine Add to a List , Eem Add to a List , Hat Yai, Langbaan Add to a List , Magna Kusina Add to a List , Mama Đút Add to a List , Oma’s Hideaway Add to a List , and República Add to a List . Mirisata unionizes
Workers at the vegan Sri Lankan restaurant Mirisata Add to a List unionized this week—an unusual move, considering the fact that the business is worker-owned. Because employees must work 32 hours or more per week and undergo a six-month trial period to be eligible for worker-ownership, the union aims to protect part-time employees and employees who are in the running to become worker-owners. The union was voluntarily recognized by the restaurant's worker-owners.
