CLOSURES

Pix Pâtisserie List
Sad news for anyone in Portland with a sweet tooth: The longtime "dessert oasis" Pix Pâtisserie closed permanently on August 22 due to owner Cheryl Wakerhauser's retirement. Wakerhauser previously revealed in an Instagram post that she planned the retirement from the "nonstop, unpredictable and yet also rewarding restaurant industry" 10 years ago to the date, when she opened the bakery's East Burnside location. Happily, there's a silver lining: The bakery's now-iconic 24-hour "Pix-O-Matic" vending machines will remain in place and fully stocked with goodies from Wakerhauser's baking crew, and Wakerhauser herself will host cooking classes starting next year.

Erica's Soul Food List
Don't panic: The Southern favorite's closure is just temporary, as owner Erica Montgomery looks for a new space and plans her upcoming project Juke Joint.

Everybody Eats PDX List
