This Week In Portland Food News: Nacheaux Opens Its New Food Hall, Two New Pizzerias Are Coming, and Ruby Jewel Closes

In this week's edition of food news, Nacheaux opens its Unicorn Creationz Food Hall (complete with a New Orleans-style speakeasy and a dessert shop). Plus, two exciting new pizza places are on the way, and Ruby Jewel has closed its scoop shops. This cart opened within the Cully Central pod earlier this month, serving a wide variety of classic Thai dishes.

Little Beast Clackamas
The award-winning farmhouse-style brewery Little Beast, known for its wild, wood-aged, and blended beers, opened a second taproom next to its Clackamas brewery on October 8.

Meta Pizza
The thriving Portland pizza scene is getting a promising new addition soon: Former Ración chef Anthony Cafiero plans to open this takeout-focused pizzeria in the location previously home to Pizza Doughnais next Tuesday, October 26. Expect a selection of eight different sourdough-fermented, New York-style pies, ranging from five-cheese with green onion and poppyseeds to spicy lamb with house-made sausage, marinated tomatoes, feta, green olives, and chili crisp.

Tango Crab
This Taiwanese and Chinese restaurant opened in Hillsdale at the end of September. The menu features Cajun-style seafood boils (with choices like shrimp, mussels, clams, and crawfish), hot pot, noodle soups, fried rice, lo mein, chow mein, and other dishes.

Unicorn Creationz Food Hall
There's a whimsical new food hall in town. On October 12, married couple Anthony and Stephanie Brown, the team behind the craveable "Mexicajun" cart-turned-restaurant Nacheauxopened a full-fledged food hall with two new restaurant concepts next to their flagship restaurant in the former Alameda Brewhouse space: Bourbon Street, a New Orleans-inspired, speakeasy-style bar and restaurant, and Karnival Korner, a dessert shop serving up ice cream, freshly baked cookies, and other treats. The spot will host its first Halloween party on October 30, with live music, spooky New Orleans-inspired cocktails from its new speakeasy Bourbon Street, and a costume contest with a $100 prize.

Banh Mi Boys
This Louisiana-based Viet-Cajun restaurant, which specializes in banh mi/po' boy hybrid sandwiches, will open a franchise in Doe Donuts' former space. The location is expected to open sometime in the next two to three months.

This stylish cocktail lounge, which closed its doors in March 2020 due to the pandemic, is at last reopening, this time with a new food menu from the restaurant concept Jarana PDX, by Gary Marmanillo of Casa Zoraya and Ryley Eckersley of Quaintrelle. Jarana focuses on Nikkei cuisine, a cooking style that blends Peruvian ingredients with Japanese techniques. 

Pizzeria Stellina
In addition to Meta Pizza above, another slow-fermented pizzeria is on the way. Owner Gina Rollo plans to open Pizzeria Stellina, a shop slinging Neapolitan-esque pies, for takeout in the former PieVino space by early November.

The Sudra
The plant-based Indian favorite plans to open a fourth location in the former Aviv space in the Pearl District sometime in the next two weeks.

Ruby Jewel
The ice cream chain, which closed its Mississippi location in June, has closed all of its remaining scoop shops. The brand will continue to be available through retail.

Ecliptic Brewing's 8th Orbit Anniversary Celebration
Help the galactic-themed brewery celebrate eight trips around the sun with the release of a new anniversary beer (8th Orbit, an Italian-style pilsner available in cans and on tap), a limited-edition tie-dye 8th Orbit Anniversary T-shirt, special rare beers on tap, and a special spiced goat cheese-stuffed endive with olive tapenade appetizer (or a vegan variation). Ecliptic will also release their rare 2016 Barrel-Aged Oort Imperial Stout from their cellars and will have bottles available for sale.

Gulp some slippery bivalves from POP Oysters, paired with wine, cider, and beer from several coastal breweries on tap.

Zuckercreme Presents: Pumpkin Spice And Everything Nice
Inspired by fall's most ubiquitous flavor, this autumnal pop-up from Zuckercreme will feature a bakery, cafe, community markets, workshops, cozy home goods, clothes, accessories, vintage wares, and art.

The plant-based cheesecake purveyor is now serving "Eddy Cheesecake," a new special originally created as a custom flavor for a customer: espresso cheesecake with ribbons of marshmallow, a gluten-free almond shortbread cookie crust, and topped with lightly sweetened whipped cream and a dusting of espresso.
