NEW OPENINGS AND RETURNS

Back2Earth List
Queer spaces are a sadly rare commodity these days. There are only 23 lesbian bars currently open in the United States, and Portland itself has lost many treasured LGBTQ spaces in the last several years, including Embers, Rebel Rebel, and the Roxy. All this means that it's particularly exciting that the queer nightlife hub Local Lounge reopened as a new gay bar called Back2Earth last weekend. The new project, owned by Eagle Portland List owner Dan Henderson, features bar grub like burgers, cheese dip with ciabatta, and fried gyoza, not to mention drinks like espresso martinis and watermelon mojitos.

Jeju List
The highly anticipated project from Peter Cho and Sun Young Park, the married couple behind the famed spots Han Oak List  and Toki List , opened its doors in the former Renata List space on June 25. The buzzy spot features multiple tasting menu formats with an emphasis on "wood-fired, whole-animal techniques," plus a wide selection of Korean spirits and liqueurs. There's even karaoke, so get ready to belt out your best Mariah Carey high notes.

The End List
Hey Love List co-owners Emily Mistell and Nicholas Musso teamed up with Cat's Paw owner Mickey Reyes, Sweet Hereafter List bartender Dylan Long, and chef Sam Smith to open this quirky bar next door to the Oregon Theatre (Portland's longest-running adult film theater, which closed its doors in 2020) at the end of June. Expect fun, craveable snacks like buttered popcorn and budae jjigae Cup Noodles alongside "nostalgia-based cocktails" like s'mores espresso martinis, melon ball Negronis, and Buffalo sauce micheladas.

FUTURE OPENINGS

Libre List
Pastry chef Gabriella Martinez, who runs the pop-up Sweet Creature, and Ketsuda “Nan” Chaison, the co-founder of Mestizo List , Kati List , and Norah List , plan to open this new bar and dessert destination in the former Lokanta List space in September. You can look forward to plated desserts and mezcal-centric cocktails. Even more good news: After chef Luna Contreras' acclaimed pop-up Chelo List ends its residency at the seasonal restaurant Dame List in mid-August, it will move into Libre during the day. The new incarnation of Chelo will serve fresh baked goods like conchas, bollos, tres leches cakes, breads, and quiches, plus "snackified" versions of some of the pop-up's most popular items, such as the fan-favorite tlayuda.

I'm planning on doing a few pop-ups here in Portland so y'all don't miss my food too much. This has been a super huge opportunity and I appreciate everyone that came in and tried our food!
