Loyal Legion List
The popular beer hall Loyal Legion just debuted a new location overlooking the newly revamped Portland International Airport main terminal. Mémoire Cà Phê List
Mémoire Cà Phê is a little bit like the Portland food scene equivalent of Boygenius, except instead of a synergistic supergroup of singer-songwriters, it's a Vietnamese pop-up comprised of Matta List chef Richard Le, Portland Cà Phê roaster Kimberly Dam, and HeyDay List pastry chef Lisa Nguyen—each of them formidable talents on their own, even better when combined. Excitingly, the trio will host the grand opening of their new brick-and-mortar brunch restaurant honoring their Vietnamese-American upbringing in Vernon tomorrow, August 31. Look forward to menu items like black sesame cinnamon rolls, fried chicken and pandan waffles, and yuzu mimosas.

Fuego Food Carts List
Known as one of the oldest food carts in Portland, this business announced on social media last week that it will close at the end of the year, writing, "For 30 years we’ve been serving up stunning flavors and hearty meals, becoming a beloved part of Portland’s food cart culture. From our peak of 10 sizzling carts across the city, to our current six bustling locations and traveling food truck, we’ve loved every minute of serving you lunch, especially in downtown Portland. However, hard times following the pandemic have made it impossible for us to keep the fire burning."

End of Summer Block Party Past Event List
If you haven’t yet tried the Latin-inspired pizzas at Reeva Cafe y Cocina a La Leña, this community-oriented block party is the perfect opportunity. The food-filled festivities will celebrate the end of summer, though I'm hoping we have a few more good weekends to enjoy pizza in Reeva’s parking lot-turned-patio space. SHANNON LUBETICH

Jamaican Independence Micro Festival Past Event List
Get ready for a day of culture, music, and food in celebration of Jamaica gaining independence from the UK on August 6, 1962. General admission is free, but you can pre-purchase a yardy (slang for Jamaican ex-pats) or yankee (someone born in the US) special, which includes bites like patties and coco bread. The festival’s food offerings are all plant-based, and I'm already drooling over the prospect of a plantain tart—add reggae music and temps in the 90s and you've got my perfect summer Saturday. SL
