Celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau Day with fruity, crushable vintages from Division Wines. (Division Wines)
The third Thursday of November (11/16 this year) marks Beaujolais Nouveau Day, when France's most famous vin de primeur (a wine that may be sold the same year it is made) is released upon the world, fresh from the harvest. As former Stranger writer Tobias Coughlin-Bogue wrote in 2016, "Beaujolais Nouveau is such a magical, overabundantly fruity wine that it can help you forget that you live in the end times." Below, we've compiled a few places in Portland that will fête the occasion by pouring their own Beaujolais Nouveau offerings and other similar wines.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16

Nouveau Fête 2023 Past Event List
Division Wine Making Company has an annual tradition of releasing their "Nouveau Nouveau" wine, a "fresh, fruity, and quaffable" Gamay, on Beaujolais Nouveau Day each year. They emphasize that the soirée is all about "enjoyment of the moment," so indulge your inner hedonist by savoring cheese plate trios from La Femme Fromage and oysters from Pop Oysters PDX while sampling wines from Division, GC, The Marigny/St. Reginald Parish, Love & Squalor, and New Wave Wine Co.
Division Wines, 5:30-8 pm

The Grape Escape feat. Beaujolais Nouveau Past Event List
The Hoxton is hosting the inaugural edition of this new event celebrating "Bojo Novo Day," as they affectionately dub it. While some wine events can be stuffy, this one promises to be lively and fun, featuring vinyl tunes from DJ Sworth, a menu of snacky bites, and Portland Wine Collective’s curated selection of Beaujolais and Beaujolais-inspired wines. Plus, exclusive "Grape Escape" merch will be available for purchase.
The Hoxton, 8-10 pm

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 19

Beaujolais and Beauty Past Event List
Seasoned sommelier Michael Perman will guide you through a journey of tasting the 2023 Beaujolais Nouveau release alongside other exquisite French wines. While you're there, admire the New Modernist's impressive collection of 20th century design and decor.
The New Modernist, 3-5 pm
