So, in case watching the ball drop on TV with a bottle of Cook's won't cut it, we've rounded up 10 major events we think are especially worth your while this year. Check out our New Year's Eve calendar for even more events.

Brandi Carlile’s New Year’s Eve Party Add to a List
PNW-born folk treasure Brandi Carlile will welcome in the new year with a one-of-a-kind holiday concert supporting her acclaimed 1970s rock-infused seventh album, In These Silent Days. As of late, she's been making appearances with icons like Elton John, Dolly Parton, Joni Mitchell, and Tanya Tucker, so you never know who might show up!
(Moda Center, Lloyd District, $36-$126)

Levitate NYE 2023 Add to a List
Dance between two rooms as you count down the clock to midnight with British trance DJ/laser enthusiast Gareth Emery and Newcastle-based EDM producer Cristoph, who will play simultaneous sets.
(45 East, Central Eastside, $50)

New Year's Eve with Digable Planets Add to a List
Stranger writer Jas Keimig wrote: "There’s a Libra in my life that listens to “Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)” to calm down, requesting it at kickbacks and hangouts. I guess it makes sense—there’s a sense of balance within Digable Planets’ mellow, jazz-rap catalog that could appeal to Libras and non-Libras alike. The hip-hop trio, along with groups like A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul, laid the foundation for alternative hip-hop, combing steady flows over funky, jazzy tracks. Even though the trio—Craig “Doodlebug” Irving, Mariana “Ladybug Mecca” Vieira, and Seattle’s Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler—initially split in 1995, they’ve been intermittently reuniting ever since." The trio will ring in the new year alongside Portland-based rap queen Karma Rivera and DJ Spare Key.
(Crystal Ballroom, West End, $35-$80)

Pink Martini New Year’s Eve Celebration Add to a List
Portland's "little orchestra" Pink Martini features over a dozen musicians who perform a multilingual repertoire that's exotic yet familiar, seamlessly switching between jazz, classical, pop, and global music sounds. The band has a certain je ne sais quoi that puts everyone in a good mood—they don't just perform a show, they know how to throw a party. For this New Year's celebration, the ensemble will be joined by the Portland Youth Philharmonic, Latin pop artist Edna Vazquez, jazz vocalist Jimmie Herrod, and radio journalist Ari Shapiro.
(Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, South Park Blocks, $37-$118)

30th Annual Champagne Ball Add to a List
One of Portland's fancy-schmanciest New Year's Eve parties will return for its 30th year. Relocating to the Portland Art Museum for 2022, the Champagne Ball features "16,000 square feet of good times," complete with two ballrooms, party band performances, DJs, "singles beads," and photo ops with alpacas.
(Portland Art Museum, South Park Blocks, $109-$209)

The EYE BALL! - NYE Surrealist's Dance Party Add to a List
Invoke the spirit of your favorite Dada/Surrealist artist at this freaky New Year's Eve dance party soundtracked by DJs Rescue and Gregarious, along with a live set from psychedelic sorcerer Sun Atoms. Costumes are a must! Think Dalí's iconic mustache, Schiaparelli's whimsical fashions, or a bowler hat in the style of René Magritte.
(Polaris Hall, Humboldt, $25)

New Year's Eve Sobriety Powwow Add to a List
For those who choose not to imbibe, boozy New Year's Eve festivities can be tricky to navigate. The Native American Rehabilitation Association (NARA)'s all-day sobriety powwow offers an alcohol-free way to celebrate, complete with drumming, dance, youth activities, and a sober countdown.
(Oregon Convention Center, Lloyd District, free)

Portland Spirit New Years Eve Cruise Add to a List
Life is short—why not sail into 2023 aboard a funky party cruise?! Jazzy duo The Bylines will set the musical vibes as you coast along the Willamette, snacking on hors d’oeuvres and gazing at the Portland skyline. The late-night ride finishes off with a champagne toast.
(Portland Spirit Salmon Springs Dock, Downtown, $125+)

New Year's Eve Aprés Ski Retro Soiree Add to a List
The disco meets the chalet at this wintry ski-inspired bash. Bundle up in cozy sweaters, puffer jackets, or other cold-weather gear, then enjoy Aperol spritzes, jams from Los Angeles DJ Oishi Disco, an alpine-inspired smorgasbord, an ice luge, and snow, all beneath the light of glittery disco balls.

Threshold Brewing New Year's Eve Polska Add to a List
Greet 2023 the Polish way with Threshold Brewing's party, which will feature live music from Zabavva Band, tunes from guest DJ Andrzej, singing, dancing, bigos (a traditional Polish hunter's stew) from Threshold owner Jarek Szymanski, Polish beer on tap, Grzaniec (hot mulled wine), and zapiezanka (Polish pizza). Cap off the evening with a midnight champagne toast, or stray from tradition and raise a glass of Grodziskie (a highly carbonated, smoked Polish beer style) instead.
