Independence Day is right around the corner, and it's time to start thinking about procuring some festive food for the occasion. We've rounded up some food options around town, from Doe Donuts's strawberry basil donuts to P's and Q's Market's crawfish boil, plus places to pick up ingredients for backyard barbecues. Kim Boyce's whole-grain bakery has a number of specials available for the holiday weekend, including burnt Basque cheesecake, ham and cheese quiche, summer fruit pie, and raspberry rhubarb pie. Pre-orders close at 9 am on Friday and reopen at noon on Sunday.

Bob's Red Mill List
Bob's Red Mill, that stalwart champion of whole grain foods, has you covered for a fun and frugal pre-Fourth of July celebration Past Event List at their free barbecue on Sunday. Enjoy $5 burgers, shaved ice, and popcorn while grooving to live tunes from the top 40 cover band Hans & the Wanted. Expect wholesome games galore, including a watermelon eating contest, and peep some retro classic cars. While you're at it, stock up on all things Bob's at the Whole Grain Store, which is also home to a restaurant and bakery.

Doe Donuts List
Strawberry and basil are a superlative summer combination, and the acclaimed vegan donut shop is uniting the two flavors in its new strawberry basil-filled flavor, which features Oregon strawberries, basil-infused strawberry jam, and a dusting of powdered sugar. The special will be available in stores only from July 3-4, so grab them while you can.

Gluten Free Gem Bakery List
Gluten-free eaters need not be left out of the festivities: This family-run bakery is slinging cherry crumb streusel pies and vegan strawberry rhubarb streusel pies. Pre-orders for July 2-4 close tonight at midnight.

The specialty neighborhood grocer is throwing a down-home, Louisiana-style crawfish boil Past Event List for the Fourth of July. Prepare to get messy and dig into a slew of crawfish, shrimp, andouille sausage, potatoes, and corn. The event will also feature drink specials and live music from the acoustic American roots ensemble Blue Flags & Black Grass.

Want to take a getaway to the coast for the holiday? Pelican Brewing's newest Siletz Bay brewpub in Lincoln City will host a deck party Past Event List with a prime view of the fireworks. Lounge on the spacious patio, sip crisp beverages like Sunrise Surfer Blonde Ale and Sparkle Hops (a non-alcoholic sparkling hops water), and enjoy a menu of barbecue and crab boils.

We recommend the family-owned market's grill packs, which include a variety of old-fashioned wieners, smoked pork links, bockwurst, chicken sausages, Cajun andouille, and a package of pepperoni sticks (handy for pre-barbeque snacking).
