List
Among the various activities at Bauman's annual harvest festival, you can find your way through winding mazes, shoot some apples through a cannon and watch them explode, or slide down a giant hay pyramid. If enjoying apple season is your main objective, indulge in seasonal treats like Bauman's famous apple cider donuts and sample some fresh-pressed cider (weekends only). On October 6, the farm will have its annual giant pumpkin weigh-off, followed by a 1,000+ lb pumpkin drop from a crane into a pool of water. Cannonball!

Though this farm is located in Boring, their fall festival is anything but! This year's theme, "The Magic Beneath Our Feet," highlights "the hidden world of soil, earthworms, and roots," and how these underground ecosystems support farm sustainability. There's loads to do: explore a six-acre corn maze with a dead end challenge, send an apple flying via slingshot, take in a scenic hayride where be treated to views of Mt. Hood, participate in a festival-wide scavenger hunt, and much more. On October 6, admission will include entrance to the Maple Shade Maker's Market, which features local vendors, live music, cocktails, and more.

The MAiZE at the Pumpkin Patch

The famous MAiZE on Sauvie Island is back this year with an absolutely adorable Peanuts design—an homage to the Great Pumpkin, I suspect. Peanuts is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a year of activations like this one around the world, giving local businesses the opportunity to finish the statement "Happiness is..." (in this instance, a corn maze). The maze has two parts: warm up with the "easy" section before tackling the more difficult part, and don't forget your boots—it can get muddy out there.

Apples are king at this fourth generation-owned and operated orchard, but there are also pumpkins ripe for the picking at a "less mess" pumpkin patch run by the Hillsboro High School Spartan baseball team as part of their fall fundraiser. Pick up some apples by the pound and don't miss the farm's succulent apple treats, including mini apple cider donuts, apple cider slushies, and caramel apples. This year, the farm is giving tractor rides around its apple orchards on weekends in September for $3 per person.

Listen, we already love this Plumper Pumpkin Patch for the name alone (say it three times fast!), but the fact that it was once named one of the top 10 pumpkin patches in the nation by MSN sweetens the deal. And, in addition to all the usual suspect fall farm activities, they have pig races(!) every hour on weekends in October.
