Morning exercise people will rise and shine on the first Sunday of October to run or walk the Portland Marathon, half marathon, 10K, or kids’ run. All are welcome to attend the Health and Lifestyle Expo the day before to check out presentations and vendor booths, which is also where racers can pick up their packets. The marathon route takes runners past the Moda Center, through Old Town, along the Sellwood bluff, through the Reed campus, and by OMSI and the USS Blueblack, crossing four bridges in the process. Personally, I like to be distracted while running, so this scenic route sounds ideal. by Shannon Lubetich
