7th Annual Ashland World Music Festival
The Ashland World Music Festival (AWMF) brings together storytelling, music, dance, and visual art from cultures around the world, bringing global perspectives to Ashland's downtown. Culture-bearers from diverse backgrounds will perform and festival goers can also go on a SoundWalk, a "self-guided interactive audio/visual experience that weaves together music from artists around the globe with visual art installations by local artists."
- Friday May 27: Percussion workshop with Okaidja Afroso. Learn the basics of percussion methods and traditions from the Gah culture of Ghana. Taught by 2022 AWMF anchor artist Okaidja Afroso. Open to all. Free. This is an un-ticketed event. Seats available until full.
- Saturday May 28: HeartBeat Stories- stories of home. An intimate evening of music and stories of “home.” Open to all. Free. This is an un-ticketed event. Seats available until full.
- Sunday May 29: Park Performances. 5 fantastic performing groups in beautiful Lithia Park. Fun activities for all ages and delicious fare by local food trucks. Open to all. Free. This is an un-ticketed event.
- Friday- Monday: SoundWalk. A curated self-guided interactive audio/visual experience that weave together the music from artists around the globe with visual installations of art of all types by local artists. Audio is available for streaming and download from 6 am Friday May 27 - 7 pm Monday May 30. Route coming soon. Maps of the SoundWalk route will be available for online use downloading and printing by May 25.
