Congeniality: The Music of Ornette Coleman
Alto saxophonist Ornette Coleman stands as one of the most revolutionary figures in the history of jazz. With firm roots in the bebop and blues traditions, Ornette's unabashed reach for the future and uncompromising individuality paved the way for organizations like the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians and set the precedent for what jazz and improvised music could be in the twentieth century and beyond. Trombonist Chris Shuttleworth leads an all-star Portland quartet in an exploration of Ornette's music.
