Historian Douglas Brinkley is a professor of history at Rice University, the CNN Presidential Historian, and a contributing editor at Vanity Fair. In other words, this guy knows his stuff. He'll visit Portland for a lecture on the rise of environmental activism during the "Long Sixties." Brinkley will pull from extensive research in his 2022 book Silent Spring Revolution: John F. Kennedy, Rachel Carson, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and the Great Environmental Awakening, which Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin called "a majestic work of history" and "an urgent call for our time."
