Hi, Mom! In 35mm
The following description comes from the event organizer.
The Grindhouse Film Festival presents the only known 35mm print of this overlooked 1970 Brian De Palma masterpiece! This screening is free for Hollywood Theatre members.
Robert De Niro stars as a Vietnam Vet who comes back to New York City and approaches a producer about directing an avant-garde porno film. He begins shooting footage of the residents of an apartment building on the other side of the street without their knowledge, and starts a relationship with one of them (Jennifer Salt). When his filmmaking skills aren't up to par, he tries acting, and falls in with a group of militant black activists who are teaching white people about the Black American Experience. As the film switches from comedy to scorching social commentary, one of the most intense and searing sequences in cinema history unfolds. Be Black, Baby.
