This screening presents short films by the Los Angeles school of Black filmmakers, including HaiIe Gerima, JuIie Dash, CharIes Burnett, and many more. These filmmakers made vital work in the wake of the Watts rebellion that examined Black identity within political consciousness, aiming to create a film language that countered anti-Blackness and increased Black representation on film.
