Join Liz Prato in conversation with essayist Aaron Gilbreath to talk about KIDS IN AMERICA: A GEN X RECKONING, and Aaron's popular Substack, ALIVE IN THE NINETIES.
Aaron Gilbreath is an essayist whose writing has appeared in Harper’s, Saveur, Kenyon Review, The New York Times, The Dublin Review, and Paris Review Daily. His books include “The Heart of California: Exploring the San Joaquin Valley,” “This Is: Essays on Jazz,” and the personal essay collection “Everything We Don’t Know.” He has worked at a bookstore, a tea shop, a university writing center, and spent five years as an editor at Longreads. He currently works as an editor and copywriter in marketing, and remains devoted to burritos.
Liz Prato's newest essay collection is “Kids in America: A Gen X Reckoning.” Her previous book, “Volcanoes, Palm Trees, and Privilege: Essays on Hawai‘i” was named a Top Summer Travel Read by the New York Times, and was a Finalist for the Oregon Book Award in 2019. She is also the author of the short story collection, “Baby's on Fire,” and edited “The Night, and the Rain, and the River: 22 Stories” from Forest Avenue Press. Liz lives with her furry feline friends and her best friend/husband, who is a bookseller, musician, and writer. She lives for small presses, indie bookstores, community, and palm trees.
