Italian Renaissance genius Sandro Botticelli possessed a rare gift for harmonious composition and natural, curvilinear forms. Acquired on special loan from a private collector, Portland Art Museum will display Botticelli's Madonna of the Magnificat, which depicts the Madonna and Child among angels. The seldom-seen tondo (round painting) is considered one of the painter's masterworks.
