Opacity of Performance: Takahiro Yamamoto
Opacity of Performance, Portland-based choreographer Takahiro Yamamoto's new dance installation, uses collaborative methods to investigate the impacts of visibility and attention on an extended performance. Throughout the European art wing at the museum, three performance areas divided by curtains will allow dancers to hide and reveal themselves, creating ever-changing experiences of the solo works performed in these spaces. In this way, Opacity grapples with the tensions inherent to being seen or unseen, which relates to wider themes of control, otherness, and repression.
