Join the Asian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander community in celebrating AANHPI Heritage Month with performances from Leela Indian Dance and Rose City Island Dance, speeches by Multnomah County Commissioner Susheela Jayapal and Metro Councilor Duncan Hwang, open houses at cultural heritage institutions in Old Town-Chinatown, an evening vigil honoring ancestors, and much more.

 

10 AM - 11 AM

Community Performances by Kylee Kamikawa, Lee's Association Lion Dance, Leela Indian Dance, Obukan Judo, Portland Taiko, Rose City Island Dance, Teva Oriata, and Tsubaki Buyo Doukoukai.

11 AM - 12 PM

Speaking by community leaders and elected officials, including 

  • Metro Councilor Duncan Hwang,
  • Multnomah County Commissioner Susheela Jayapal, 
  • Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum,
  • ORAH organizer & Philanthropist Anne Naito-Campbell, 
  • The Pacific Islander Community Coordinator for Immigrant & Refugee Community Lute Richards, 
  • Multnomah County Commissioner Lori Stegmann, and others

12 PM - 6 PM

Cultural heritage institutions will be open for free to encourage exploration of AANHPI culture & history, including Japanese American Museum of Oregon, Lan Su Chinese Garden, Oregon Historical Society, Oregon Jewish Museum, Portland Chinatown Museum, and others. (Please see the opening hours below.)

  • Festival Streets on Flanders and Davis Streets will have food carts and tables from organizations.
  • Lan Su Chinese Garden will feature performances by Ka Lei Hai'a O Ka Lokelani, Takohachi Taiko, and Vancouver Jasmine Dance Troupe.

6 PM - 9 PM

Vigil and memorial at Lan Su Chinese Garden to honor those that came before us and those that we have lost during the pandemic, featuring Michael Looking Wolf's land blessing, Fear No Music's concert, Chinese calligraphy demonstration, and floating lantern release at dusk.
