OUT OF THE WOODS (2015/final cut, 2021; 87 min.) A Drama of Magical Realism. Charlie Atterbury, a former professional Mentalist, is interviewed by a documentary filmmaker about how he came upon his mind-reading talents after a fatal fall in the forest. He mysteriously returns to life with amnesia and starts hearing the thoughts of others. While wandering the woods, he encounters a religious fanatic who mistakes Charlie for a zombie and offers spiritual healing. On the road the next day he meets a talent scout who recognizes his mental powers and drives him to Reno Nevada with the promise of becoming rich and famous. OUT OF THE WOODS follows one man’s journey down the rabbit hole of haunted dreams, weird luck, and worldly ambitions to discover his true nature and... his one true love
