Plein Air painting and Alla Prima painting capture the essence of a scene, the attitude
of a landscape, or the character of a moment. Most often completed in a single sitting,
these works feature lively and impressionistic views, bold gestures, and impromptu
mark-making. For the Plein Air and Alla Prima Showcase, we’re looking for works that
characterize these techniques and capture the fleeting moment. Whether painting
in plein air or alla prima, we want to see work that expresses the spontaneity and
immediacy of documenting the ever-changing world.
