Thumbprint composer Kamala Sankaram, “one of the most exciting opera composers in the country" (Washington Post), will explore the creative process behind her contemporary operatic work alongside librettist and co-creator Susan Yankowitz. (Thumbprint heads to Newmark Theatre later this month; the forward-thinking production blends traditional Hindustani and western classical music to tell the story of pioneering Pakistani human rights activist Mukhtar Mai.)
