The following description comes from the event organizer.

The PSU Vocal Collective is a vocal quintet and rhythm section made up of students from the Jazz program at Portland State University. Under the direction of Sherry Alves, the group performs incredible vocal arrangements of jazz and popular music that are reminiscent of groups like Groove for Thought, the New York Voices, and Lambert, Hendricks and Ross. This set includes music by Esperanza Spalding, Vince Mendoza, Kurt Elling, Count Basie, Elton John, and more.

Audiences may recognize group members as regulars at the 1905 jam sessions and events. Vocalists Hannah DiMo, Raine Welterlen, Emma Rosenberg, Sam McGehee, and Zach Connolly are rich in blend and poised with style. The rhythm section includes pianist Marvin Madarang, Marshall Peterson on bass, and Carlos Moreno on drums.
