Join us at this informal event where we will talk about the Czech tradition of wooden marionettes, which UNESCO declared a cultural heritage in 2016. Master puppeteer Mirek Trejtnar will show how are they are designed, carved and built. Find out about the role of puppetry and craft in Czech art today. Free entry, donations welcome - register at www.puppetsinprague.eu
We have been teaching students for over 20 years at Puppets in Prague; at this event you can meet some of our alumni based in the area, including:
MATT BROOKS- puppet artist who has worked for the Jim Henson Company, Comedy Central, LAIKA, Cirque du Soleil, and Julie Taymor. Most recently he was art director for the Neflix animated film Wendell and Wild (dir Henry Selick)
KRISTA WELTER - puppet artist currently working at LAIKA as the hair and fur fabricator
BOB BEUTH- artist based in LA who makes masks and puppets for California theatre companies. He is also an actor who whose credits include When Harry Met Sally, Ghostbusters II, Outbreak among many others
