The following description comes from the event organizer.
Looking to do something new, and excitingly different? Looking to be in community with other LGBTQ+ folks?BLACK&GAY, a profoundly unique Black and LGBTQ+ owned organization, is hosting a Sunday Brunch Mixer in Portland. The mixer is intended for everyone, no matter your race, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
During this event, you can expect to mix & mingle with LGBTQ+ individuals, entrepreneurs, and activists who acknowledge the need for spirituality in the development and education of the Black LGBTQ+ community.
The goal for this event is to gather personal testimonials surrounding spirituality and divinity for social media content, and to raise money for their upcoming Queer Sunday School classes, which willl focus on bringing the power of Black queer spirituality back to our community.
Attendees who agree to participate in a 1-on-1 interview will receive a gift bag, and will be tagged on all social media platforms. This is a casual environment, where you’ll be asked questions surrounding your personal journey with spirituality and divinity.
The event will begin around 11AM PST, and will conclude around 2PM PST. Food and drinks will be provided for everyone, served buffet style, and include vegan, vegetarian, and non-vegetarian options - first come, first served. The event will be held indoors, and free parking is available. Specific location details will be provided on day of event.
The organizers of this event are Michael D. Myers (Houston, TX) and Adrian Turner (Portsmouth, VA), the two founders and creative directs of the organization. However, this only makes up half of the chief executive office, which includes Quincy Keith (Columbus, OH) and Brent Neal (Decatur, GA). The team engages with thousands of Black queer individuals per week, live on Discord, to give support on their mental health journey, and facilitate their healing.
BLACK&GAY is a limited-liability corporation registered in the state of Oregon. Their mission is to advance our experience of 2SLGBTQIA+ BIPOC community, while supporting the liberation of each individual within it.
