This blood-curdling opera is based on a short story by Edgar Allen Poe (we highly recommend listening to this eerie reading of The Fall of the House of Usher if you're unfamiliar). Hauntingly melancholy music by Phillip Glass is the perfect fit for the story's pervasive, gloomy atmosphere, which stage director Kevin Newbury describes as "a combination of Alfred Hitchcock...[and] Sunset Boulevard."
