The Matador, home to gourmet Mexican cuisine, handcrafted cocktails and more than 100 tequilas, is opening a new location in North Portland June 10. The Matador’s new 4,500 square-foot restaurant in the Peloton Apartments on North Williams Avenue will accommodate 120 guests with both indoor and outdoor seating, scratch menu items and top-shelf tequilas previously unavailable in Oregon.

“The Boise-Eliot neighborhood is quickly becoming one of Portland’s most thriving districts, making it a perfect location for our newest location,” said Zak Melang, founder and owner of The Matador. “This restaurant reflects the attention to excellent food, drink and experience The Matador is known for, and we can’t wait to welcome guests in June.”

The Matador’s culinary team sources all-natural products, including carne, pollo, carnitas and seafood, and the freshest in-season vegetables and fruits. In addition to signature menu items such as goat cheese jalapenos, carne asada and crispy Brussels sprouts, The Matador also features a rotating Fresh Sheet with new seasonal items every six weeks.

The Matador’s renowned tequila and mezcal collection is personally curated from across Mexico. Its vast tequila menu includes exclusive options unavailable elsewhere and the restaurant’s own Private Reserve, straight from barrels in Mexico.

“There are endless ways to experience tequila, and we take great pride in delivering the perfect drink experience for our guests,” said Brian Livesay, beverage director at The Matador. “From margaritas to palomas to Mexican mules, we’re confident there’s something for every cocktail enthusiast.”

The Matador in North Portland will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
