The Study Sessions is a new series that highlights a unique mix of avant-garde jazz and classical players with fresh and exploratory new wave sounds. The first edition of the series will start off with a performance of Debussy's Syrinx by Portland-based flutist Jayde Weide alongside Moondog-esque experimental electronics and bass clarinet from Papergates. Following an open mic there will be a showcase of ceramics, a paper moon installation, and an experimental theremin/clarinet improvisational set by Gina Collison and Lisa Lipton. Local genre-bending jazz trio Fredson The Jeffy will cap off the evening.
