Dateline Tesla City:

Join us for the first ever presentation of the TBC’s Hooten Hollerday!

Two episodes of the quirky, “country comedy” Hooten Holler from the 1944 holiday season.

In the first, “For Unto Us A Finkel is Born,” Libby Hooten (née Finkel) and her hillbilly hubby Rube Hooten are expecting their first child and experiencing their first inter-faith holiday as they head into Tesla City to spend Hanukkah with Libby’s family.

And in the following episode, “Unto Us A Hooten is Given,” Rube and Libby are headed back upstate to spend Christmas with the Hooten clan in the Catskills, but will a freakish blizzard prevent them from making it home?

It’s heartwarming holiday fun for all straight from Hooten Holler!

Since 2014, we at The Tesla City Stories have been presenting an evening of live “radio” theater derived from the recently uncovered archives of the ultra-obscure Tesla Broadcasting Company (1943-1945). It’s “pop archaeology” as performance art, or, more simply, a fun night of vintage entertainment! The shows of the TBC run the gamut from sitcom to thriller, from mystery to romantic-comedy, with forays into westerns, sci-fi and horror to boot. But all of these shows, regardless of genre, are tied to the fictional locale of Tesla City. That’s part of what makes the output of the TBC so unique and sought-after by historians and collectors.

Truly Portland’s best and best night out! Come and join us!
