If you think theme parks are kind of creepy on their own, prepare yourself for haunted houses and rides in the dark at Wild Waves Fright Fest, which starts this weekend.
Our arts critics have already recommended 78 great things to do this week and our music critics have picked the 43 best music shows, but there are still hundreds more events happening. To prevent some of the quirkier and more extraordinary ones from slipping through the cracks, we've compiled them here—from the Seattle AIDS Walk & Picnic to the 8th Annual Dick's Drive-In Walkathon, and from Sea Otter Awareness Weekend to A Very Scary Misfit Cabaret. 4. Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival
Take part in UW's version of the Mid-Autumn festival, a Chinese and Vietnamese tradition that welcomes the new season and honors departed loved ones. This year, they promise a lantern-filled quad, carnival games, mooncakes, and much more.

5. Celebrate the Legacy of Ray's Co-owner Elizabeth Gingrich
Join Ray's Cafe to celebrate the life of beloved late Ray's co-owner Elizabeth Gingrich by enjoying a special a la carte menu of her favorite dishes with dessert and cocktails. All proceeds from the menu will go to MultiCare Hospice of Tacoma, where Elizabeth was president of the board for five years and helped to establish the program. Check donations will also be accepted, and Ray's will match all donations for the day.

6. No Farms, No Beer
Support local farms, without whom there would be no local beer, by drinking said local beer. Plus, enjoy pizza and raffles.

9. Lady Rizo
Amelia Zirin-Brown, aka Lady Rizo, has won the Time Out London and Soho Theatre Award and the 2013 London Cabaret Award in addition to her Grammy for a collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma, and she sounds a bit like Judy Garland on vocal steroids. She'll bring her brassy one-woman performance art and music cabaret to Seattle tonight.

11. Odd S. Lovoll: Two Homelands

In this film, secular and orthodox worlds collide when a Jewish family welcomes strangers who have just escaped from prison into their home per the tradition of Sukkot, the Jewish harvest festival that celebrates the sheltering of the Israelites in the wilderness.

You've probably come across at least one person who claims to believe in equal rights but is hesitant to label themselves as a feminist. Act Now Mantra will lead a panel discussion on workplace discrimination and the #MeToo movement that aims to clear up some confusion surrounding contradictions within feminist movements.

28. Disruptive Play: The Trickster in Politics and Culture
Shepherd Siegel will give a short talk and sign copies of his book Disruptive Play: The Trickster in Politics and Culture, which explores the transformative roles mischief-makers have had throughout history, from ancient times to the present.

29. Folio Forum: The Perilous Quest for a New Relationship with Russia
A panel of journalists, analysts, and scholars will mull over the current tense US-Russia relationship. How did we get here, what does Putin want, and what the heck is Trump up to? Gain insight from Bill Buzenberg, who oversaw the release of the Panama Papers; Lara Iglitzin, who monitors human rights in Russia as the head of the Henry M. Jackson Foundation; Mort Kondracke, former editor of the New Republic; Robert W. Merry, recently editor of the American Conservative; and Scott Radnitz, Director of the Ellison Center for Russian, East European, and Central Asian Studies at the UW's Jackson School.

30. Mini Civic Boot Camp: Civil Rights, Then and Now
After a brief history lesson on civil rights movements of the past, learn how you can apply what you've been taught to issues you care about in the present.

31. Race, Philanthropy and Political Giving
Steve Phillips, founder of Democracy in Color, an organization dedicated to empowering multiracial, multicultural, and progressive communities in the United States, will give a talk on the intersection between political giving and philanthropy.

32. Sneed B. Collard III: Warblers & Woodpeckers
Sneed B. Collard III—a man with a very good name—broke his own personal Big Year bird species count record when he and his teenaged son set out to spot and record as many winged creatures as they possibly could in the span (eh?) of a year. His book, which he'll read from tonight, dishes on natural history, birding hotspots around the world, and even some parenting tips.

33. Speak Out, Sing Out for Recovery!
In honor of Recovery Month, recovered addicts will share their experiences through music, spoken word, and storytelling.

34. Writing the Personal: Thompson, Ortiz, and Santlofer
Hear from three prominent writers of memoir: Neal Thompson (the parenting memoir Kickflip Boys), Wendy C. Ortiz (the searing story Bruja and Excavation), and Jonathan Santlofer (The Widower’s Notebook, an account of the author's grief after losing his wife).

This panel with Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist David Horsey, Seattle Public Library librarian and Fake News Survival Guide creator Di Zhang, UW professor Jevin West, and Seattle Times reporter Marcus Harrison Green will discuss how to sort out the facts from the non-facts.

40. 2 Weeks Notice
The Forum will say goodbye to its hard-working executive director, Courtney Sheehan, at this "Fund-Rager," featuring Local Sightings guest artists and filmmakers, karaoke with a special surprise guest ("of Mexican pop star lineage"), a raffle of Sheehan's treasures, and an appearance of Shehunk, Sheehan's Magic Mike-like persona, who must be seen to be believed.

This musical fundraiser for Seattle-area photographers Lois and Jerry Levin started when Lois was diagnosed with stage-four colon cancer last year. 49. Seattle Metal Benefit For Marine Wildlife Research

53. Bawdy Storytelling
Storytellers, porn stars, sex educators, and others will gush over their sexual escapades live. Think The Moth but dirtier.

54. An Evening with Amy Siskind
After Trump's election, Amy Siskind set out to document every attempt by the administration to threaten democratic institutions. Her "Weekly List" went viral, and it's now being archived by the Library of Congress. Her book is a compilation of the List during Trump's first year.

55. Lisa McCubbin: Betty Ford
In Lisa McCubbin's biography of former first lady Betty Ford, the author reveals the wife of President Gerald Ford to be a staunch advocate for women's rights. Hear McCubbin read from the book.

56. A Night of City Poems and City Songs
Josh Feit will read some poems from his latest urban-focused collection, The Subway Arts Movement, all about "mass transit, multi-family housing, witchcraft sleeper cells, and other key tenets of the pro-city agenda." He'll alternate with jazz musicians Emily Westman (piano) and Annie J (voice).

57. Pop-up Poet and The Letter Farmer
Put your phone in your pocket and join the Letter Farmer and local poet Shane Knode for a few afternoons in the park—Knode will write you a poem on his typewriter and you can write someone a letter yourself.

Former Hugo House writer-in-residence Sonora Jha will host a reading with four Seattle-based South Asian writers: Jordan Alam, Sasha Duttchoudhury, Jasleena Grewal, and Shankar Narayan.

UFC fighter Brendan Schaub and comedian Bryan Callen host a podcast together called The Fighter & The Kid, and Schaub now has added the Big Brown Breakdown to his online comedy repertoire. He'll come to Seattle for five solo stand-up sets.

61. Sammy Obeid with Quincy Weekly
Sammy Obeid, who describes himself as a "Lebanese-Palestinian-Syrian-Italian-American," set out to achieve a streak of "1,001 Arabian Nights of Comedy" and succeeded, performing every night for almost four years. He's appeared on Bobby Flay's show and on Conan, and now you can see him perform live comedy sets.

Young Samara is awoken by the ghost of her grandmother Cyla, who relates the perilous history of their family's immigration.

63. A Very Scary Misfit Cabaret
These misfits fit together pretty well, led by San Franciscan Kat Robichaud in a fearsome variety show of aerialist demons, burlesque witches, and other creepy characters dancing to a rock 'n' roll soundtrack.

66. Tulips of Fury: A Comedy About the Dutch Resistance in WWII
The Nazi occupation of the Netherlands may seem like an odd choice for a comedy, but this takeoff on classic radio pays tribute to real Dutch courage in the story of Little Miep, her husband, and a downed American fighter.

67. The Two-Step
An independent woman travels the world trying to find a place where she can keep her autonomy while enjoying community in this show directed by Paul Budraitis and performed by Christine Longé.

As if Louisiana hadn’t suffered enough from hurricanes and environmental disasters, now it’s overrun with enormous rodents called nutria—invasive “swamp rats” that can reach up to 20 pounds. This documentary by Quinn Costello, Chris Metzler, and Jeff Springer follows the fight between the hairy and destructive little monsters.

86. Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England
A lesbian scholar tries to deal with her college's impending financial doom, the peril to its tiny natural history museum, and quarrels with her own ex-lover (and her ex-lover's girlfriend) in this academic queer comedy.

Men dancers on the highest levels of artistry will enliven modern, contemporary, urban, jazz, and ballet genres. 94. Three Days of Rain
This play starts as many classic tales of family conflict do: at the reading of a will. Walker and Nancy Janeway discover that their father made some unexpected bequests, prompting them and their childhood friend Pip to investigate their parents' unknown youth.
