There's nothing like a handmade gift for the holidays...even if the hands that made the gift are a little more artistic than yours. From our Winter Holidays calendar, here's a list of all of the events where you can buy handmade gifts from local artists for the holidays, as well as a few opportunities to make your own crafts (with professional guidance).

GIFT FAIRS

DEC 4-5

Northwest Holiday Handmade
Local artists present a variety of handmade wares perfect for unique holiday gifts including ceramics, handwoven textiles, mosaics and mobiles, art yarns, etchings, paintings, blockprints and sculpture.

DEC 5-6

*Urban Craft Uprising
Touted as "Seattle's largest indie craft show," Urban Craft Uprising takes over the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall.

Vermillion Holiday Market
Come to Vermillion for their special holiday market (this month, in addition to their regular Second Sunday sale) to find unique and one-of-a-kind presents.

*Georgetown Holiday Market
Over 40 vendors will be offering wares that range from antique furniture to handmade art to "delicious noshables." Plus, live music, a photo booth, and a food drive.

Good Shepherd Center Christmas Market
Listen to carol singers, meet Santa, and pretend you went to Paris for the holidays at this Christmas Market organized by Alliance Française de Seattle. Buy gifts (baked goods, linens, scarves, books) or just peruse.

Mount Baker Home Tour and Arts & Crafts Fair
Head to Mount Baker, where the owners of some of its "most beautiful and historic homes" allow the community to view their "breathtaking period details and elegant grounds." There's also an accompanying arts and crafts fair at the Clubhouse. ($25/$30)

Holiday Food and Gift Marketplace
If you have a foodie on your gift list this year, you'll definitely want to stop by this holiday market with demonstrations and gift suggestions by Aran Goyoaga, Megan Gordon, Ashley Rodriguez, Danielle Kartes, Kimberly Taylor, and more. They also promise wine tasting and a charity bake sale.

Metaphysical Market: Yuletide Edition
The Metaphysical Market, a monthly pop-up market at the Spooked in Seattle tour headquarters where they "focus on learning about their connection to the Magick in our everyday lives," is having a holiday market, featuring art, reiki cleanses, chakra healings, and other metaphysical things.

West Seattle Holiday Art Walk
The Junction promises you'll find a "truly unique gift" at this wintry art walk, featuring exhibits and trunk shows (plus carolers!)

Art Under $100
Enter this event at the Seattle Design Center for free, and enjoy booze, soda, craft making, and the opportunity to purchase affordable art from dozens of local vendors. Art Under $100 promises quick, low-pressure exposure to some of what's being made in the Seattle art scene right now, and a perfect opportunity for purchasing holiday gifts.

Found + Gathered Holiday HoHoHo Pop-Up
Jewelry, ornaments, handbound books, and other gifts you'd expect at an indie holiday market, plus a calligraphy workshop (register first!), free giveaways to the first 30 kids, and "sips and snacks for shoppers."

DIY Holiday Fair
Vera Project and Hollow Earth Radio's eighth annual DIY fair showcases Seattle's DIY record/tape/CD labels, as well as Zine and small press producers.

North Seattle Holiday Craft Bazaar
Get with the real meaning of the holidays and visit this craft bazaar benefiting Mary's Place. Enjoy music, craft activities, and lots and lots of gift shopping.

Holiday Renegade Craft Fair
Over 175 makers will be at this fair, a traveling series of events that's making a stop in Seattle this weekend. There will be giveaways, an interactive "adult-sized playhouse installation" by Danielle O'Malley, food vendors (don't miss the boozy lollipops!), Martha Stewart craft workshops, and more.

Get some last-minute holiday shopping done free of guilt at this holiday edition of ArtAche Market at Chop Suey, complete with live music and DJs.

"DIY Holiday Gifts" with Erica Strauss
Erica Strauss, author of the book Hands-On Home, will give a demo on how to create gifts like natural lip balm, bath bombs, and body scrub.

Edible Gourmet Gifts with Chef Traci Post
Seductive Specialty Foods' Chef Traci Post will help you make eight different gourmet gifts for the sweet teeth in your life. And on December 16, she'll teach you how to make eight different platters of gift-able holiday cookies. ($75)

Wreath Making with Sound Excursions
