As diners increasingly opt to stay in due to coronavirus concerns, restaurants around Seattle are responding with announcements of reduced hours or temporary closures, health and sanitation practices, and promotions for delivery and pick-up options and specials.
We've rounded up everything we've heard related to restaurant updates below, and we'll add to this post as we hear more. If we're missing something, email us to let us know. As you're making plans to go out in Seattle, remember that it's important to always wash your hands and stay home if you're sick. King County Public Health is recommending that people at higher risk of severe illness should stay home and away from large groups of people as much as possible.
REDUCED HOURS
Cafe Hitchcock
Notes: "In response to changes in business volume, We will be temporarily modifying our hours...Thank you all for your understanding and support while we navigate these new waters. Le Coin
Notes: "Since our restaurants inception, Le Coin has pride itself on keeping a warm, friendly, and safe environment centered around delicious food and beverage. In order for us to foster this type of environment, Le Coin has committed itself to a daily regiment of keeping our restaurant at the highest level of sanitation and tidiness. While it is impossible for us to control what happens outside of the four walls of our restaurant, you can rest assure that we are now doubling our efforts to maintain that same level of cleanliness that goes well beyond any standards set forth by the Local and State Health Departments...Le Coin will be closing Monday, March 16th and Tuesday, March 17th of next week. Notes: "Late last night, we learned one of our store partners at our 1st & University store in downtown Seattle was diagnosed with COVID-19 and is self-isolating at home for a period of time. We quickly activated our protocols, immediately closing the store and initiating a deep clean overnight, following all recommended guidelines from the City of Seattle and King County public health authorities. These officials have encouraged us to reopen the store after further preventative cleaning, which we have already conducted, staffed by partners who have no known impact from COVID-19. -Continuing to provide 4,000 meals and snacks a day to local shelters and schools that rely on us, with increased safety measures.
-Continuing to follow all CDC and Seattle-King County Public Health guidelines.
-Participating in calls with Seattle-King County Public Health, the City of Seattle and health and human service providers on COVID-19 planning and best practices.
-Working closely with our housing and community partners to help safeguard our students.
-Encouraging all staff and volunteers who are high risk or who whose work can be accomplished remotely (e.g. administrative positions) to work from home or take excused time off through Monday, March 16.
-Implementing strict protocols for staff, students and volunteers who may display symptoms of COVID-19 while on FareStart properties. Individuals must be fever-free for at least 24 hours before returning to FareStart.
-Temporarily amending our time off policy to support staff during this virus outbreak.
-Employing additional cleaning and sanitation protocols across all FareStart facilities.
-Temporarily suspending the use of all personal cups/tumblers at our cafes while honoring discounted pricing for customers.
-Switching to pre-packaged disposable utensils at our cafes.
-Making contingency plans in case our programs and social enterprise businesses are impacted by fewer staff, students or volunteers.
-Canceling non-essential events and workshops.
-Restricting unnecessary staff work travel out of the Seattle area.
For now, all FareStart programs, services and social enterprise businesses remain operational. We will continue to assess our policies and procedures as the situation evolves." (March 5)

Notes: "Every day brings new developments related to COVID-19. We are following the CDC and the King County Health Department’s guidelines to provide food to you safely. We have excellent health and sanitation practices. Safety is our top priority. Here are additional steps we are taking at this time:
-We have a dedicated employee at each location who sanitizes commonly used surfaces at least every hour.
-You may indicate a preference for contactless delivery and we will leave it at the door. -We encourage customers to include a tip when placing delivery orders through the phone, online or in the app so no signatures are required at the door.

Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizza
In addition to providing free meals for employees, the local chain is providing a 10% discount for all healthcare employees who show a badge, business card, or pay stub, as well as free delivery for all orders over $25. White Swan Public House
As of March 9, the South Lake Union seafood spot known for its chowder poutine is offering 15% off its entire menu in order to offset some of the financial burden for its staff.
