If your New Year's resolution involves reevaluating your meat and/or dairy consumption, adopting a vegan diet, or going plant-based for the annual "Veganuary" challenge, you've got plenty of delicious options to ease you through the transition. We've rounded up this list of vegan restaurants worth trying, from the brand-new comfort food spot Allyum List to the beloved diner Wayward Vegan Cafe List . Plus, if you're looking to brush up on your meatless cooking skills, local author Hsiao Ching-Chou will be demonstrating a stir-fry recipe from her newest cookbook Chinese Vegetarian Soul Food at a virtual event Past Event List  with Book Larder List on January 26. Check out our food and drink guide for more ideas.

Araya’s Place
This vegan Thai spot is a longtime favorite of herbivores and omnivores alike for its comforting plant-based dishes like tom yum, massaman curry, and crispy fried Brussels sprouts. Though its justifiably popular all-you-can-eat lunch buffet is sadly a no-go in the time of COVID-19, they're currently offering a $5.99 takeout lunch special; a lunch combo set with crispy spring rolls, house salad, phad thai noodles, black sticky rice pudding, white or brown rice, and a choice of a stir-fry or curry for $13.99; and a family meal with a choice of six dishes to feed three to five people for $50.

The airy, plant-filled Cafe Flora has been a vegetarian haven for over 30 years, with locally sourced dishes like Oaxacan tacos, seasonal grain bowls, and wild mushroom and fennel risotto, and many dishes are vegan and clearly marked as such on the menu, or can be made vegan with modifications. The restaurant is also opening a bakery called Flora Bakehouse in Beacon Hill later this month, serving pastries with many vegan options (including Flora's famous cinnamon rolls).

Georgetown Liquor Company List
Here's some welcome news: This beloved Georgetown dive, treasured for its strong booze, vegan/vegetarian menu, gritty atmosphere, and warm staff, was recently saved from extinction by Highline List owner Alan Threewit. After GLC announced in September that they would close after 14 years of business, Threewit renovated the bar and reopened it with a new all-vegan menu featuring plant-based French dips, Reuben sandwiches, and other comfort food, plus punk-inspired cocktails available for takeout.

Next Level Burger List
Former Stranger writer Sean Nelson once wrote of this plant-based burger joint inside the Roosevelt Whole Foods List , "Next Level turns out to be a fantastic innovation for those of us whose brains know eating animals is indefensible but whose hearts still can't get past the idea that a cheeseburger, fries (or, better yet, tots!), and a milkshake is nature's perfect meal." He endorses the shakes (made with soy- or coconut-based soft serve), the All-American, Sausage Bacon, or Signature burgers, and the "heroically sloppy" Chili Chz Dog.
