OTHER FOOD NEWS

Wu-Tang Clan-themed dinner coming to Seattle
Syd Suntha, the owner of the up-and-coming Sri Lankan cart Kottu List , is channeling his passion for Wu-Tang Clan into an extravagant experience for the ages. At an upcoming event, which will cost $60,000 to produce, Suntha will feature nine TBD chefs (a nod to Wu-Tang's nine members) and will serve 36 courses in tribute to the iconic hip-hop group's debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Dishes, like the "Ooh Baby, I Like it Raw" (an albacore dish with beets, roasted chilis, and amarantha) and the "One Blood Under W" (blood sausage and brioche), will derive inspiration from Wu-Tang lyrics, and local mixologist Friendly Gomez will craft themed cocktails, like the "Ghost-Trace Killah" (Buffalo Trace bourbon, maple, lemon, mint, and egg white). Other attractions include a Wu-Tang-themed escape room, live painting, and cello covers of Wu-Tang songs. Suntha is also entering an Eventbrite contest that could land him $10,000 more for his event budget, which could mean him bringing in some "special guests" (possibly members of Wu-Tang?). The date for the event has not yet been set, but it's slated for September or October and will cost around $333 to attend.

Seattle chefs appear on TV
You can tune in to watch multiple local chefs represent Seattle on the small screen this week. In addition, you can catch Seattle-born Graham Elliot and former Kenmore resident Nikki Tomaino Allemand on PBS's new Great American Recipe, which premieres tonight at 9 pm.
