Wednesday, November 20, is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), an annual observance honoring the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. Accordingly, there will be several Seattle events tonight and over the weekend—see details below.

Seattle Central College Past Event List
Join a candlelight vigil to hear an (incomplete) list of names of those who've lost their lives to anti-trans hate crimes in the United States. Speakers include Elayne Wylie (Gender Justice League), Taylor Briggs (Greater Seattle Business Association), and other activists.

Remember those who have lost their lives to transphobia-fueled violence, and learn how to get involved in protecting trans and gender-diverse communities in Seattle and beyond.

American Legion Memorial Park Past Event List
PFLAG Everett will host a vigil to remember the trans lives lost over the past year. Proceeds from candles (of which there will be a limited supply) and warm beverages will benefit the Washington Gender Alliance.

Bellevue First United Methodist Church Past Event List
After a brief reception, hear a speech from trans activist and storyteller Ginger Chien and hear the names of trans people who have lost their lives over the past year.

This vigil is described by the organizers as a "simple, poignant, candlelit service [that] will be both a memorial to precious lives lost and a reminder to us all of the importance of bearing witness and living in love so that the future is safe for all."

Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Past Event List
The Advocate dubbed 2016 the most dangerous year for trans Americans. In 2018, anti-trans laws—such as "bathroom bills"—continue to threaten the safety of trans communities across the country. In the documentary The Most Dangerous Year from Seattle filmmaker Vlada Knowlton, the director teams up with Gender Diversity organization to provide a better understanding of the issues faces by trans youth. The United Territories of Pacific Islanders Alliance of Seattle invites you to hear a keynote speech from NYC-based trans entertainer Ms. Beyoncé Black St. James, who was crowned Miss UTOPIA International 2019-20. Rev. Jaelynn Scott will also share some words.
