Apocalypse is nigh. Sorry, excuse me, I mean: Acapulco Lips is nigh. The Seattle surf-rock trio pushes music that makes the Pacific Northwest seem like a beachy, warm place to be. Their sound is very vintage, but never superficially so—"Awkward Waltz" is lovingly lo-fi and fuzzed-out, like it's the summer in the 1960s. "Shoes On" made me go out and buy some paisley pants. "Gotta Know" brought me out of my gray-weather depression.
