The following description comes from the event organizer.

Dion Pickering Zwirner was born in 1947 in Seattle, Washington. She received a BFA and MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. Zwirner returned to the Pacific Northwest and has exhibited extensively in the Puget Sound area, as well as internationally. Zwirner produces work in a variety of media, including gouache, graphite, watercolor, acrylic and oil. She is known both for her large-scale paintings and intimate, mixed media works on paper. Her work focuses on abstracted, evocative landscapes that engage with the emotion and memory of place and atmosphere. She contributes a painterly hand to her works on paper, emphasizing the surface while creating atmospheric compositions of great depth. Notable awards and grants include the Ragdale Foundation Residency, Vermont Studio Center Fellowship, and the Mesa Art Center Purchase Award. Zwirner’s work is held in private and public collections including the Hallie Ford Museum, the Museum of Northwest Art, and the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art.
