In her own work, Washuta is known for wrapping her personal experiences and private theories around found forms, such as popular television scripts and reverse timelines. In Shapes of Native Nonfiction, she and Theresa Warburton use concepts from the art of basket weaving to coil and plait these coiled and plaited stories together.
