Frye Art Museum: Community Day

Families and friends of all ages are invited to join us for an array of festivities. Come explore current exhibitions Duane Linklater: mymothersside and Human Nature, Animal Culture: Selections from the Frye Art Museum Collection through guided tours, hands-on art-making activities, and a chance to meet furry friends! Find the full schedule below.
Community Day is primarily an indoor event with an outdoor component. Guests will be required to wear masks as part of the event. Physical distancing is recommended for all activities, which are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. Participant numbers for indoor activities have been limited for the safety of visitors, volunteers, and staff. Submitting your contact information at the program for contact tracing is encouraged.

11 am–2 pm
Connect with Seattle Humane
Location: Foyer
As Puget Sound's leader in animal adoption, education, and welfare, Seattle Humane’s top priority is connecting animals in need with people who care and supporting the human-animal bond. Engage with the Education Team to learn about how Seattle Humane cares for animals in our community!
11 am–2 pm
Animal Meet-and-Greet with 24 Carrot Parties
Location: Cherry St between Boren Ave and Terry Ave (Frye Art Museum block)
Stop by and say hello to furry friends from 24 Carrot Parties! Learn about different breeds and characteristics of bunnies as well as interesting bunny facts while building empathy and compassion for animals.

Drop-in Art-Making: Dyeing with Natural Materials featuring Kathy Hattori of Botanical Colors
Location: Art Studio
Come learn and experiment with some natural dyes! Inspired by works from the exhibition, Duane Linklater: mymothersside, educators from Botanical Colors will guide you through a bundle dyeing activity on a bandana using various native plants, as well as a painting activity with natural dyes!

Chair Yoga with Paul Tomita
Location: Auditorium
Join Paul Tomita, Sattva Yoga Master Teacher and Meditation Teacher, for an all-level chair yoga practice inspired by the exhibition Human Nature, Animal Culture. No previous yoga experience is required.
